Great Cities Exposed
International Online Photography
Exhibit Series

What is "Great Cities Exposed"?
We are thrilled to bring you this ongoing rotating photo exhibit, featuring breathtaking artistic photography from some of the most beautiful and photogenic cities in the world.  This ongoing series features artistic reader-submitted images that are individually selected by our Submissions Review Team.  The first photo gallery in this series covered what many would argue is the greatest city on earth; New York City.

NYC Exposed - New York City Online Photography Gallery and Challenge from FreePhotoCourse.com
NYC EXPOSED - THE VISION:
THE VISION: to create a photo gallery that is as much about personal perspective as it is about New York City.

Hundreds of images were submitted from professional and amateur photographers.  From these, we selected and curated a body of work that captured a variety of visual landscapes and social perspectives that best embody the NYC spirit.

Each stunning photo in this gallery is unique, but carries a common thread of the essence that is New York, when appreciated together as a whole body of work.  Despite the different perspectives, they come together to show, in a very artistic and compelling way, what the City means to different people.  (This exhibit is now closed to new submissions.)

(If you want your own photos to be considered for the San Francisco exhibit, submit HERE or send your pictures, a description of the subject matter and a bit about yourself, directly to submissions@FreePhotoCourse.com   Just do it quickly, because we will close the exhibit to new submissions by the end of February.)

SOME BACKGROUND ABOUT GREAT CITIES EXPOSED:

This is a continuous international photo project in which visitors to our site are encouraged to submit their best photo works of a specific city named in each new periodic challenge.  Prior to a call for photo submissions, visitors to our site help us decide on which city will be profiled as our next international "great city".  The next city to be featured is San Francisco, California, as decided by popular vote.  We are now accepting photo submissions for the San Francisco area and will be accepting images through the end of February.  You don't have to live in San Francisco to participate.  Professional photographers, amateurs, photo enthusiasts...anyone can submit up to five pictures, as long as the person submitting the images is the original photographer who still owns the copyright, the images are family-friendly and meet a few other rules mentioned below.  We will begin posting the best San Francisco pictures in February.

As with our first exhibit,
"NYC Exposed", pictures are selected by our Submissions Review Team according to criteria related to overall technical quality, artistic composition, content choices and treatment.  THERE IS NO FEE TO ENTER.  This is not a contest, but rather a rotating photography exhibit challenge, in which photographers whose works are selected, can broaden their web presence and recognition by having their photo(s) published in one of our internationally popular and well-viewed online exhibits.  All photographers chosen for publication receive full creative credit for their respective works and a personalized, limited edition poster, suitable for printing, framing, inclusion in a portfolio and/or posting on the web.  These exclusive posters celebrate the achievement of the photographer's selection and participation in this special exhibit.

PHOTO SUBMISSION RULES: (for upcoming exhibits)

There is NO fee to enter;

ANYONE CAN SUBMIT A PHOTO;
photographers may be professional, amateur or anywhere in-bewteen;
(Although  minors can submit a photo, an adult parent or guardian needs to scan and forward a signed note, indicating the parent's permission for us to publish the child's work and name.)

IMAGE LIMIT:
Each photographer may submit up to a  maximum of five (5) images per city exhibit challenge;

TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS:
For uploading, individual images  must be at least 2 MB (MegaBytes), but not more than 6 MB.  Preferred format is JPG.  Please do NOT submit RAW, TIFF,  PSD or other formats;

COPYRIGHT:
The person submitting the image(s) must
be the original photographer who has full rights to the picture.  You agree to submit only your own work and will not submit work from another photographer on his or her behalf
.  You guarantee that you created the work and that you own the rights (copyright) to it;

PHOTOGRAPHER INFORMATION REQUIRED:
Correspondence accompanying photo attachments must include the photographer name, city of residence and email address  (email addresses are exclusively for the purpose of contacting you should your work(s) be chosen; FreePhotoCourse.com never shares email addresses.)  Some brief information about the subject matter and the photographer's thoughts about the picture will help our writers compose editorial content should your picture(s) be selected;

TIME LIMIT:
Photo(s) submitted must have been taken within the last two (2) years;
FAMILY-FRIENDLY:
This is a family-friendly site so we require that pictures submitted to this and any of our photographer challenges  portray content that would be considered family-friendly and suitable for all audiences.

SUGGESTIONS FOR PHOTOGRAPHERS:
Please submit your original photos because they have important exposure information (EXIF meta-data) embedded in the file.  Basic cropping, changing to monochrome (black and white) and re-touching using Photoshop or other image processing software is acceptable, but contributing photographers should be careful not to overuse things like contrast and color enhancement, and should definitely not manipulate the picture to make it appear substantially different from the original scene as viewed with the eye.

Participants agree to Contributor's Terms and Conditions.
SELECTED PHOTOGRAPHERS
ARE RECOGNIZED:

All published photographers appearing in our Great Cities EXPOSED exhibits receive a personalized Limited Run 12X18 full color pdf poster suitable for printing, framing, posting on the web or putting in a portfolio.

The posters (thumbnail shown below) are personalized with the name of the selected photographer as being part of the particular exhibit.

A message to all contributors...
A HUGE
"Thank You" goes out to the many photographers who submit photographs for our exhibits!

We really appreciate the effort and creativity that everyone shows
and, although we would love to have include all of the pictures we receive for each great city challenge,
we have to be selective due to space and time constraints.
(If you previously submitted images that were ultimately not selected to be part of a particular exhibit, please watch for our next photo exhibit challenge and feel free to submit again if you have excellent photos of that next city!)

Please read our Content Download and Use Agreement if you have any questions regarding content rights for images appearing in this gallery.  Please respect the rights of the photographers whose work is featured in this online exhibit.  Photos in this exhibit are the property of the named photographers.  Copying, storing, transmitting or otherwise using any of these images without the express permission of the named photographer is prohibited.
